The recruitment is being conducted for Group C posts including Lower Divisional Clerk (LDC)/Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), Data Entry Operator (DEO), and DEO Grade A in various Central Government ministries, departments, offices and other organisations.
According to the official notification, approximately 2,536 tentative vacancies have been announced for SSC CHSL 2026. The SSC CHSL application form 2026 can be submitted online from September 7 to October 7, 2026. The last date to pay the application fee is October 8, 2026. The SSC CHSL Tier 1 exam date 2026 and Tier 2 exam date 2026 will be announced later. Candidates who have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination and meet the prescribed age criteria can apply for the SSC CHSL 2026 recruitment.

SSC CHSL Vacancy 2026
The Commission has announced approximately 2,536 tentative vacancies through the SSC CHSL 2026 notification. The final number of vacancies will be determined later after scrutiny of the vacancies reported by the concerned user departments.
The updated SSC CHSL vacancy 2026 details, including post-wise and category-wise vacancies, will be published on the official SSC website. The Commission does not collect state-wise or zone-wise vacancies.
SSC CHSL 2026 Posts
Candidates will be recruited for the following posts:
- Lower Divisional Clerk (LDC)
- Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA)
- Data Entry Operator (DEO)
- Data Entry Operator, Grade A
The pay levels mentioned in the notification are Pay Level 2 for LDC/JSA, Pay Level 4 and Level 5 for DEO, and Pay Level 4 for DEO Grade A.

Candidates must fulfil the prescribed SSC CHSL eligibility criteria 2026 regarding educational qualification and age limit.

SSC CHSL Educational Qualification 2026
For LDC/JSA and DEO/DEO Grade A, except specified DEO posts, candidates must have passed the 12th Standard or equivalent examination from a recognised Board or University.
However, candidates applying for DEO/DEO Grade A posts in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, SSC and Ministry of Culture must have passed Class 12 in the Science stream with Mathematics as a subject from a recognised Board or equivalent.
Candidates appearing in their Class 12 examination can also apply, provided they obtain the required qualification by October 7, 2026.
SSC CHSL Age Limit 2026
The SSC CHSL age limit 2026 is 18 to 27 years as on August 1, 2026.
Candidates should have been born between August 2, 1999, and August 1, 2008, as per the notification.
Age relaxation is applicable to eligible reserved categories as per Government of India rules. SC/ST candidates receive 5 years of relaxation, while OBC candidates receive 3 years. Additional relaxations are available for PwBD, Ex-Servicemen and other eligible categories.
SSC CHSL Application Form 2026
The SSC CHSL application form 2026 must be submitted online through the new SSC website or the mySSC mobile application.
Candidates who have not generated an OTR on the new SSC website will first need to complete One-Time Registration (OTR). The Commission has clarified that the OTR generated on the old SSC website will not work on the new website.

- Complete the One-Time Registration on the new SSC portal.
- Log in using the registered credentials.

- Submit the application form.
- Download and save a copy of the submitted application for future reference.

The SSC CHSL application correction window 2026 will be open from October 14 to October 16, 2026, up to 11:00 PM.
Candidates will be allowed to submit a corrected application up to two times. The correction charge is ₹200 for the first correction and ₹500 for the second correction, irrespective of the candidate’s gender or category.

The SSC CHSL exam pattern 2026 consists of two tiers:

SSC CHSL Tier 1 Exam Pattern 2026
SSC CHSL Tier 1 is an objective-type Computer Based Examination consisting of four sections:

SSC CHSL Tier 2 Exam Pattern 2026
SSC CHSL Tier 2 includes Mathematical Abilities, Reasoning and General Intelligence, English Language and Comprehension, General Awareness, Computer Knowledge and a Skill/Typing Test, depending on the post.
The Tier 2 examination is conducted in different sessions, with the Skill Test/Typing Test applicable according to the post for which the candidate is being considered.
SSC CHSL Selection Process 2026
The SSC CHSL selection process 2026 involves performance in the prescribed Computer Based Examination tiers followed by the applicable skill/typing requirements.
The Commission will normalize scores if the Computer Based Examination is conducted in multiple shifts. The normalized scores will be used for determining merit and cut-off marks.
For LDC/JSA and applicable DEO posts, candidates must qualify in the prescribed Typing Test/Skill Test requirements.
